John Jopling Testifies at Administrative Law Hearing

In a change of roles from attorney to litigant/witness, firm president John Jopling testified at an administrative law hearing in Tallahassee, Florida recently on behalf of the Ichetucknee Alliance, a not-for-profit advocacy group Jopling leads.
Jopling’s testimony on behalf of the Ichetucknee Alliance was in support of a challenge brought by the Alliance to the adoption of a “MFL” (minimum flows and levels), by the Suwannee River Water Management District and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for the Ichetucknee and Santa Fe Rivers. The Ichetucknee Alliance is challenging the proposed rule on the grounds that, as presently written, the rule would actually aggravate and prolong documented problems of reduced flow on the Ichetucknee and other north Florida springs, rather than promoting the recovery of lost flow to the springs, as contemplated by the Florida legislature more than forty years ago.
